Very useful vaping tips for different weather

Vaping mods in comparison

Vaping in any weather: The ultimate guide for summer and winter

Every vaper knows this: In the summer the tank suddenly runs out, and in winter the battery runs out, even though it was freshly loaded. E-cigarettes are sensitive electronic devices, and both the e-liquid and the battery cells react strongly to temperature fluctuations.

So you can enjoy the perfect vape all year round, We have summarized the most important tips for hot summer days and freezing winter nights.

Part 1: Vaping in summer (heat & Sonne)

High temperatures are the natural enemy of viscosity (viscosity) of your liquid. Here is, what you need to pay attention to.

1. The problem with the thin liquid

Heat makes your e-liquid extremely thin – almost like water.

  • The consequence: The cotton in the evaporator head can no longer hold the liquid, and the tank starts to close “the sip” (to expire).
  • The solution:
    • Use thicker liquid: In mid-summer, switch to liquids with a higher VG share (Vegetable Glycerin) one. VG is naturally thicker and holds onto the cotton better even in hot weather.
    • Store upright: Pay close attention to it, that your e-cigarette is standing and not lying down, especially if the liquid is thin due to the heat.

2. Battery safety: Danger to life in the car!

This is the most important safety note in this article.

  • The danger: Lithium-ion batteries don't like heat. At temperatures above 60°C they can become unstable. A car in the blazing sun can quickly heat up to over 70°C.
  • The rule: Never leave your e-cigarette or spare batteries in the car!
  • Tipp: When you are at the beach, keep the device in the shade, ideally in a bag and not in direct sunlight.

3. The liquid “ripe” faster

Heat accelerates the maturation process of e-liquids. Nicotine can oxidize and become dark, and the taste may change or “chickens”. Always store your supplies at home in a cool place, dark place (z.B. in the closet or basement), never on the windowsill.

Part 2: Vaping im Winter (cold & Frost)

Cold weather presents steamers with completely different challenges. Here you are fighting more against the physics of chemistry and mechanics.

1. The battery loss

At low temperatures, the chemical processes inside the battery slow down.

  • The symptom: The battery shows “full” an, but after a few moves it collapses or reports “Low Battery”. The capacity drops drastically.
  • The solution:
    • Use body heat: Carry your e-cigarette in an inside pocket of your jacket, close to the body. Body heat keeps the battery at operating temperature.
    • Replacement batteries: If you are outside for a longer period of time (z.B. at the Christmas market), Take spare batteries with you and keep them warm too.
    • Do not charge ice cold: Never charge an ice-cold battery immediately. Allow the device to slowly come to room temperature, to avoid damage to cell chemistry.

2. Backflow problems (Dry Hits)

Which is too thin in summer, is too thick in winter. Cold makes VG (Glycerin) extremely viscous, similar to honey.

  • The problem: The thick liquid doesn't flow quickly enough through the small holes in the cotton. If you then pull, burns the dry cotton wool – the dreaded one “Dry Hit”.
  • The solution:
    • High PG: If you vape outside a lot, use liquids with more PG (Propylene glycol), as this remains more fluid.
    • Warm up: Briefly warm the tank in your closed hand, Before you take the first train.

3. The metal at the mouth

Many e-cigarettes have a mouthpiece (Drip Tip) made of stainless steel. In sub-zero temperatures, this can be very uncomfortable on the lips or even freeze.

  • The tip: Switch to a drip tip in winter plastic (POM/Delrin) or Teflon. These don't absorb the cold as much.

Part 3: Humidity and rain

Whether it's a summer thunderstorm or slush, moisture is poison for electronics.

  • IP certification: If you work outside a lot or play outdoor sports, It's worth buying one “Outdoor-Akkuträgers”. Search for devices with IP67 or IP68 certification (z.B. Geekvape Aegis Serie). These are dust- and waterproof.
  • Silica Gel: If your device does get wet: Don't turn on! Take out the battery and place the device for 24 Hours in a bowl of rice or silica gel sachets.

The weather checklist

Here's your quick reference guide for your pocket:

Sommer (Sonne)Battery overheatedNever leave it in the car, Looking for shadows
Winter (cold)Battery drains quicklyCarry the device on your body (Inside pocket)
Winter (cold)Dry Hit (afterflow)Preheat the liquid/tank in your hand
