Do you know that?? You have tried countless e-liquids, but none apply 100 % your taste. Sometimes it's too sweet, sometimes too weak, sometimes the special touch is missing.
The solution is simpler, than you think: Simply mix your liquid yourself!
Mixing yourself gives you total control over flavor, Nicotine strength and composition. Plus, you'll save a lot of money in the long run. This guide will show you step by step, how to become the master of your own liquid creations.
🛒 Step 1: Your shopping list
Before it starts, you will need some basic supplies. You can find most of them in any well-stocked vape shop.
| Components | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Empty liquid bottles | For mixing and storing your creations (z.B. 100ml). |
| Fair utensils | Syringes with blunt cannulas or small measuring cylinders for precise dosing. |
| Base | The tasteless basis of your liquid. |
| Aroma | Gives your liquid the desired taste. |
| Nicotine-Shots | If you want to vape your liquid with nicotine. |
| Pin & The label | For writing down your recipes and labeling the bottles. |
🔬 Step 2: The building blocks of your liquid
A liquid consists of only three or. four main components, whose properties you should know.
1. Die Base: The foundation
The base is tasteless and consists of two substances:
- Vegetable glycerin (VG): A thick -fluid, slightly sweet substance. VG is primary for seal, voluminous steam responsible.
- Propylene glycol (PG): A thin substance, comparable to water. PG is the one Taste bearer and takes care of it “Throat Hit” (the scratchy throat).
The mixing ratio of VG and PG is crucial to your vaping experience. As a rule of thumb:
| Steam style | Recommended ratio | Result |
|---|---|---|
| MTL (Mouth to Lung) | 50% VG / 50% PG | Good taste, moderate steam |
| DL (Direct to Lung) | 70% VG / 30% PG or higher | Thick steam, gentler feeling |
2. The aroma: The soul of the liquid
Flavors come in countless flavors. The most important rule here is thisrecommended dosage, which is usually stated by the manufacturer in percent (z.B. 5-10 %).
Professional tip: Always start at the lower end of the recommended dosage! You can always add more flavor later, but too much flavor cannot be removed.
3. The nicotine: The optional kick
In Germany and the EU, only nicotine shots with a maximum are available to end consumers 20 mg/ml available in 10ml bottles. Mixing with these shots is easy and safe.
🛠️ Step 3: In 5 Steps to your first own liquid
We mix as an example100ml Liquid with3mg nicotine strength and oneAroma dosage of 8%.
Step 1: Preparation
Lay out all utensils on a clean surface. Take an empty 100ml bottle.
Step 2: Add nicotine
To bring 100ml liquid to a nicotine strength of 3mg/ml, you need nicotine shots with 20mg/ml.
- Formula: (Desired strength / Strength of the shot) * Total amount = Amount of nicotine required
- The invoice: (3mg / 20mg) * 100ml = 15ml
- That corresponds exactly 1,5 Nicotine-Shots (at 10ml). Pour this into your large bottle.
Step 3: Add flavor
You want a dosage of 8% in your 100ml liquid.
- The invoice: 8% of 100ml are 8ml.
- Measure out 8ml of your aroma and add that to the bottle too.
Step 4: Fill with base
Your bottle now contains 15ml of nicotine and 8ml of aroma (Insgesamt 23ml). Fill the rest of the bottle up to the 100ml mark with your unflavored base.
- The invoice: 100ml (in total) – 15ml (Nicotine) – 8ml (Aroma) = 77ml Base.
Step 5: Shake vigorously & Label!
Screw the bottle tightly andshake vigorously for one to two minutes, so that all components mix well. Label the bottle with the recipe (z.B. “8% strawberry, 3mg, 70/30 VG/PG”) and the date.
Ready! Your first self-mixed liquid is ready to vape.
💡 Good to know: Ripening time and color change
- ripening time (“Steeping”): Many vapers leave their liquid for a few days to weeks after mixing “tires”, so that the taste fully develops. This is especially true with complex ones, creamy flavors recommended. With simple fruit flavors it is often not necessary. Just try it right after mixing. If it doesn't taste round enough for you, let it stand for a week.
- Color change: If your liquid becomes darker or brownish over time, this is completely normal. It is the harmless oxidation of nicotine, which does not negatively affect the taste. You can continue to vape the liquid without worry.
