A clean evaporator is the be-all and end-all for every vaper. Over time, residues of e-liquids and flavors build up in the tank, which not only distort the taste, but can also shorten the lifespan of your hardware. Whether annoying “flavor ghosting” (Mixture of flavors) or sticky residue – regular cleaning ensures a first-class steam experience.
In this guide from Myvapesite you will learn, how to properly care for your tank and coils and which home remedies are really safe.

Clean the evaporator properly: The ultimate guide to pure taste
1. Clean the evaporator tank: Step by step
Before you begin, make sure, that the tank is completely empty. Pour away any remaining liquid safely and briefly rinse off any coarse residue.
Step 1: Dismantling
Disassemble the evaporator into its individual parts: Basis, Tankglas, Chimney and top cap. Carefully remove the sealing rings (O-Rings). Notice: Be sure to, where which seal is located, so that the tank closes again after assembly 100 % is leak-proof.
Step 2: The cleaning methods
- Warm water (Standard): For daily cleaning, a bath in warm water is sufficient. Rinse all parts thoroughly and use if necessary. a soft toothbrush for stubborn residue.
- Ultrasonic cleaner (Professional tip): An ultrasonic cleaning device is ideal for deep pore cleaning. It removes even the smallest deposits in the threads.
- Rubbing alcohol (Isopropanol): If you have very heavy dirt or sticky menthol aromas, a quick bath in isopropanol will help. Afterwards, be sure to rinse the parts thoroughly with water.
Step 3: drying
Dry all parts with a lint-free paper towel. Then let the evaporator air dry for a while, to ensure, that no moisture remains in the air ducts.

2. Clean coils: What is possible?
Here we have to differentiate between two types of evaporator heads:
Self-winder (RDA / RTA / RBA)
Cleaning is very effective with these systems:
- Remove the old cotton wool.
- Carefully anneal the coil at low wattage (Dry Burn), to loosen incrustations.
- Briefly rinse the hot coil under running water (Caution: Do not allow water to reach the battery carrier!).
- Clean the coil with a small coil brush and add new cotton.
Ready-made coils (Replacement coils for entry-level tanks)
Important note from Myvapesite: We advise against it, Wash conventional ready-made coils with water or alcohol. The cotton inside becomes dense due to the water and loses its absorbency. This often leads to backflow problems, Leaking or a bland taste. Recommendation: Change one finished coil every 2 bis 4 weeks out, as soon as the taste wears off.

3. Home remedies in check: What is certain?
Many vapers use kitchen products. Here is our review for 2025:
- Denture cleaner: Very effective! A tablet in a water bath dissolves deposits and neutralizes odors excellently.
- vodka / Ethanol: Good for disinfection, but pay attention, that there are no additives or sugar included.
- Vinegar: Not recommended. Vinegar is very aggressive to rubber seals and the smell is difficult to remove from the device.
- Backnatron: A good remedy, to remove stubborn odors from the tank glass.
Regular care pays off
A clean vaporizer produces denser clouds and a clear aroma. Make cleaning a weekly routine, especially if you change the liquid flavor frequently.
